“…Maybe the Tea Party, Ted Cruz, and the majority of Americans have some good points about Obamacare…From delays of implementations for certain employers to the rousing opposition from the unions – President Obama’s political buddies during campaign season – there are plenty of signs that the self-repeal of the Affordable Care Act should be continued with a total delay for all Americans…Especially when you consider that only roughly 50% of the components of this law are on-schedule with implementation…”

AMERICAN URBAN RADIO NETWORK (September 25, 2013–  “There’s an old expression that says that it can be tough being caught between a rock and a hard place.

“Well, is there an expression that explains the tough spot our nation is in since we’re caught between a hopeless filibuster, a bad law, and poor leadership?

“Ted Cruz’s Obamacare filibuster brought to the American people courtesy of the Tea Party Movement and Dr. Seuss’ “Green Eggs and Ham” may seem like another ridiculous notion by a conservative movement intent on stopping the history-making legislation that was passed in 2010 and confirmed as legal by the Supreme Court in 2012.

“It would be nice if the political alternative to this hard place by the hard right would be a rock of stability and success. Instead, what we have been getting are rocky times and a rocky record on consistency.

“From delays of implementations for certain employers to the rousing opposition from the unions – President Obama’s political buddies during campaign season – there are plenty of signs that the self-repeal of the Affordable Care Act should be continued with a total delay for all Americans.

“Especially when you consider that only roughly 50% of the components of this law are on-schedule with implementation.

“Especially when you consider that employers are already cutting hours for employees in order to avoid paying for health care costs starting in 2014, leaving desperate families fighting through the economic malaise of the Obama – Recovery – with fewer wages and fewer opportunities for full-time work available.

“Especially when you consider that it was passed exclusively by only one party in Washington – a party that was banished to the political sidelines in the mid-term elections just a few months afterwards.

“And when you consider that the inconsistencies of granted exemptions, of implementation delays, of rising premiums, and limited health care choices are not just limited to Obamacare….

“…when you consider the ‘accidental diplomacy’ with the Syria Civil War  that made a former KGB operative look like a peacemaker and a Nobel Peace Prize winner look like a warmonger….when you consider that this Obama Recovery boasts of a record amount of Americans leaving the workforce, depressed that jobs on Main Street are not returning like the profits on Wall Street have…

“Put that all together – and you have not just rocky times for American politics, but also a rocky road of shaky leadership from this president and Congress.”

“…there’s a Charm Offensive that we all must hope works over these next few days. It’s the one going on in the Middle East…” Lenny McAllister talks about the importance of the Obama/Netanyahu meetings in Israel this week on this version of “The McAllister Minute”

“Remember the recent ‘Charm Offensive’ that President Obama started with Republican leaders in an attempt to win them over? Some Republicans saw it as a first step, but they certainly didn’t seem to be swooned over by the president’s advances – despite free lunches and a promise for a call back.

“How about the annual 3-day ‘Charm Offensive’ that is known as CPAC? Conservatives see it as a step in the right direction to win elections, but they certainly didn’t seem to swoon any new voters quite yet – despite rousing speeches and a breakout panel discussion where slavery was called free room and board.

“Yet, there’s a Charm Offensive that we all must hope works over these next few days. It’s the one going on in the Middle East.

“With the increased nuclear capabilities of the Iranians despite sanctions by the West, Obama and Netanyahu must completely erase the image that the two are not lockstep in ensuring both Israel’s safety in the Middle East, but also peace throughout a region that could easily spark World War III. With the increased trade discrepancies and cyber-attacks coming from the Chinese, the Americans need a united front with its allies as we continue to combat a nation that refuses to play by the same rules of peace while we attempt to avoid economic and military wars.”

barack-obama-inauguration-speech-467

“If we continue down this path – one where Inaugural Addresses now sound more like they were written to swing voters in October instead of to a nation in need of healing at the beginning of a new year – we can only expect to hear more excuses and complaints from both the White House and Capitol Hill as we continue to get less done for the sake of you and me.”

“If the Inauguration of President Barack Obama this past Monday was any indication of the direction of the second term of the Obama Administration, then we are looking at more of the same, leaving the days of hope and change long behind us.

“The president was supposed to give a speech that gave the views of a visionary statesman, not the talking points of a victorious politician.

“Aren’t we finally tired of the back-and-forth of politicians using their multiple bully pulpits to beat their political opponents over the head, all while the American people continue to deal with reports of languishing employment numbers and depressing outlooks for the future? The appearance of political power in America – from both sides of the aisle at times – has been hallow and devoid of any inspirational ability to move decision-makers from gamesmanship to statesmanship.

“Someone has to change that toxic reality – and do so starting in 2013. This has to change, America, and it changes starting with voicing our demands for better results for our elected leaders. It is time to demand accountability for action and results, not rhetoric.”

Who won the fiscal cliff showdown in Washington? Or, is it a question of if we all lost during the process? Find out in the latest version of The McAllister Minute

AMERICAN URBAN RADIO NETWORK (Across America) (January 2, 2013)

“Let’s be clear about what just happened with the fiscal cliff deal passed over New Year’s weekend by the Senate and House of Representatives.

“No one won – and everyone lost, starting with you.

“Sure, there will be people that will do their best to spin the negotiations politically to say that President Obama and the Democrats won the negotiations or that the Republicans were able to make their points known and accounted for, even though they were the losers in this past election cycle.

“But, do you feel like anyone really won through all of this?

“For example, the Bush tax cuts that President Obama campaigned against in 2008 – then signed into law in 2010 – then campaigned against again in 2012….were just – again – extended by the president. This time, the threshold of $250,000 that the election-night victor noted repeated was now pushed up to almost twice that limit. The estate tax went up marginally as well, instead of the larger increase that the Democrats were looking for.

“Just the same, do the Republicans have much to hang their hats on? Proclaiming a victory on fending off a tax hike on Americans making less than $450,000 annually comes off as hollow when considering that the payroll tax will go up on all Americans in 2013. Of course, that doesn’t matter as much as the primary tea party issue: the national debt. As long as fiscal compromise in Washington starts with legislation that increases the national debt by trillions, Republicans should be hanging their heads in shame, not hanging their hats on an accomplishment.”

Did the American people win the second presidential debate, getting enough specifics and plans from the candidates running for the 2012 White House? Listen to “The McAllister Minute” and catch Lenny’s perspective.

“So, what have we learned during this 2012 race for the White House, especially after Tuesday night’s 2nd presidential debate?  Well, we learned that polls matter.  We learned that the perception of looking presidential matters. And we learned that how you perform in debates – really does matter.

“What we’re still waiting for – however- is if what you say in presidential debates these days really matters as well.

“For all of the critique of Governor Mitt Romney’s stylistic fall from grace Tuesday nigh and for all of the glowing reviews of President Obama’s re-emergence as an energized candidate at the town hall forum, there’s still something missing.

“Who’s telling us more of the facts: the facts over what happened over the past 4 years and the facts behind their plans for the next 4 years?

“But, until November 6, it’s time for us to get off of the waves of opinion polls and public perception based on sound bites – and get on the boat when it comes to the push to get answers from these candidates.

“The presidential candidates can gather all of the style points they want. Both have had victories doing that so far. The sad thing is: America won’t score another economic victory in the 21st century – or secure a much-needed economic comeback –if we don’t make these candidates talk about solutions, not merely talk about each other.”

Most Black voters have made President Obama out to be larger-than-life, but have not received heroic attention from the White House, although his other loyal constituencies have. Instead, Black Americans must look to the past to those such as Soft Sheen’s Ed Gardner for community heroism.

“Folks will be looking for a political hero when the debate season starts off in Denver Wednesday night. People will be looking to see Governor Mitt Romney take the Republican fight directly to President Barack Obama… Democrats can’t wait for Mr. Obama to once again display the skills that fueled his ascent from upstart state senator to president-elect in a 50-month time span.

“And yes, many of those waiting to see President Obama live up to the larger-than-life debate expectations starting Wednesday night are African-Americans.

“But, after the past 4 years – of the president not saying much about Black unemployment and not saying practically anything about the ongoing Black youth crisis in our hometown of Chicago or nationally – listen here. If you’re looking for a superhero to take up the mantle of Black leadership, you need to look away from the White House…and look to people such as Soft Sheen founder Ed Gardner.

“The 87-year-old entrepreneur sparked a protest that addressed a reality that Black people in Chicago and elsewhere say to themselves but are unwilling to say aloud: why – in sanctuary cities like Chicago and elsewhere in the nation – do we see the paradox of high Black American youth crime and unemployment, yet see these in-need young men and women not get a shot at filling these capable jobs…it’s an unpopular thing to say, but Gardner had the guts to do something. Sadly, through the political expediency of the Democratic Party and the misguided focus of outdated and high-financed Black leadership, African-Americans risk being left behind in employment, education, and political power in the United States – again. In Chicago, it’s due to a lack of ordinance enforcement protecting Black contractors. Nationally, it’s due to a political desire by President Obama and Democrats to engage the new biggest minority voting bloc at the risk of ignoring the already-captured Black vote.”

In the September 19 version of “The McAllister Minute”, Lenny notes that the outrage over alleged disrespect is hollow as respect for cultural sensitivities is only genuine when it is mirrored with the respect for human life during non-combative strife.

“While we continue to honor the memory and service of slain US Ambassador Christopher Stevens and the others killed in the embassy attack overseas, we must remember the tenets of honorable global engagement that we hold dear as the greatest democracy the world has ever seen.

“Yet, while others may choose to focus on the sophomoric film that allegedly sparked the Muslim outrage throughout the Middle East over the past several days, the only way to honor the essence of freedom – for Americans and our global neighbors across the world – is to recall a key element within the concept of honor and respect.  Simply: honor and respect is a 2-way street.

“True freedom balances cultural sensitivities with the right to free speech and expression. True freedom tempers our disgust for repugnant perspectives on social issues and stances with respect for human life. True freedom confronts conflict with contemplation, not cold-blooded killing by a select few hoping to reverse the tide of democracy. And when a response to Americans working to support freedom throughout the world is mind-bending terrorism and heinous acts of murder by a select few, it is freely open for the world to see…that some still battle against the hopes of democracy…that these enemies will corrupt the overall message of living for peace and justice for the glory of God…trading that faith walk for the sake of conducting misconstrued jihad.”

“Rebellion and outrage without moral authority is anarchy.”

In The McAllister Minute on September 5, 2012 at 9:01 am

Touring during the political conventions season, Lenny McAllister delivers his latest version of “The McAllister Minute”, touching upon the need to restore voting rights for those that repaid their debts to society.

“The NAACP has begun an effort called “Restore The Vote” to ensure that Americans that have paid their debts to society after a crime receive full restoration of their voting rights as American citizens. I stand with the NAACP in that effort.

Any American leadership that will be successful in bringing our hurting nation back from the brink of the economic, social, and educational abyss that we face today must hold the highest level of moral and ethical authority. Winning in America must be about elevating the masses, not winning a numbers game based on the few.

The loss of this promise is a sad reason why Hope and Change from 2008 became Status Quo and Gridlock in Washington today. Republican wins in 2010 brought about the same marginal levels of national success based on the laser focus on winning – all while losing a little bit of ourselves.

Rebuilding the various communities of America to restrengthen our nation is going to take all willing and capable members participating in the process. Therefore, this election cannot be about who was allowed to vote and who was not. Any politician or political entity that cannot differentiate between voter validation and empowerment efforts and voter suppression maneuvers regarding these waves of voter ID laws hitting Florida, Virginia, and my native Pennsylvania – is not trying to empower you…or America…for the great American comeback of the 21st Century.

We can do better. Let’s empower people and win elections on the merits and not disenfranchise people and lose the Civil Rights progress of the past 60 years.”

“Should we vote for Romneyhood?  Or do we vote for a president that continues to ignore the Hood?

The president’s creation of Romneyhood, a…caricature to make the Republican nominee (out as)…a modern-day robber baron…(y)et, have President Obama’s own moves since 2009 made him a well-deserved hero to our communities?

A rising tide lifts all boats…that’s the gist of what we got from the first Black president these 4 years…(w)e heard that a rising tide lifts all boats as well from (other) presidents… The Black community was aghast with disgust with their administrations when they said it. Yet, at least we got great gains by the Black middle class under Reagan and the nation avoided a deep, ongoing recession after the terror attacks of 2001 because of those rascally Bush tax cuts last decade.

The only things rising in our communities (now)…have been unemployment rates, drop out rates, and homicide rates. It’s not what most expected when the first urban president was elected…in 2009.

President Obama has gone out of his way to openly and actively support illegal immigrants…(and) abortionists – yet STILL refuses to speak up regularly (for)…Black America…for 4 years now…”
